Keeping Near and Keeping On

Hebrews 10:24-39 teaches us about the fellowship of real believers and that of “make-believers” in the professing church: (1) Believers have available to them the covenant of blessing of Jesus-focused fellowship that spurs one another on to love and good works; and, (2) “make-believers” face the covenant curse for their unbelief that only mimics true fellowship. “Make-believer’s” bad fruit shows the bad root of dis-fellowship with Father/Spirit/Jesus and their subjection to covenant curses.

The Better Reality

Hebrews 10:1-18 teaches us: (1)  the Old Relationship existed to show our need, and functioned as a REMINDER; (2) the New Relationship provides the REALITY about which the Old could only remind.

A Better Relationship

Hebrews chapter 8 teaches us Jesus: (1) is a better covanental representative; and, (2) he brings a new and improved relationship with God.

Scandalous Grace

Romans 5:20-21 shows us the scandalous free grace of the Gospel vs. the oppression and works of the law.

The Meaty Goodness of Grace

Hebrews 5:11 – 6:12 teaches us about three pastoral concerns: (1) the problem of infancy; (2) the pathway to maturity; and, (3) the peril of apostasy.

The Better High Priest

Hebrews 4:14 through 5:10 shows us: (1) the requirements for priesthood; and, (2) the validity and efficacy of Jesus’ priesthood.

Framework of Faith

This passage teaches us two things about salvation from the Lord into which those declared to be righteous faithfully trust: (1) God’s saving acts are glorious (2-7); and, (2) God’s saving acts are personal (8-16).

The Shaking of Ephesus

Acts 19:1-20 teaches us some principles about true, Biblical revival: (1) Spirit, not method; (2) Word, not works; and, (3) Repentance, not moralism.

True revival has this Biblical mark: So the word of the Lord continued to increase and prevail mightily.
