Rome Vs. Paul Part II

Acts 25 teaches us the contrast between man and God in three ways: (1) Jesus’ timing vs. men’s timing; (2) Jesus’ care vs. men’s care; and, (3) Jesus’ glory vs. men’s glory.

Rome Vs. Paul

Paul’s trial before Felix teaches us three things about the Lord Jesus Christ in Acts 24: (1) Jesus is faithful; (2) Jesus is true; and, (3) Jesus is Lord.

Paul the Prisoner

From this point on in the Book of Acts, the apostle Paul receives a new name. He becomes “Paul the Prisoner” ( 23:18; 25:14; 27:1; 28:17; Rom. 16:7; Eph. 3:1; 4:1; 6:20; Col. 4:3, 18; 2 Tim. 1:8, 16; 2:9).

Acts 23:11-35 shows us the Jewish High Priest and those around him attempting to “re-bury” Jesus by killing Paul. We will focus on three aspects of this story this morning: (1) the rule of the Great High Priest; (2) the actions of the earthly high priest and the men aligned with him; and, (3) what those two things mean for us.

How to Succeed in Ministy, DESPITE Really Trying

Acts 22:22 through 23:11 shows us the beginning of the final phase in Paul’s work as he enters the custody of Rome. In it, we see three aspects of ministry: (1) Paul protected (22:22-30); (2) Paul Rejected (23:1-10); and, (3) Paul directed (23:11). We hope to learn that true, biblical ministry is NOT governed by good intentions or by human standards of success but by the Lord Jesus through the Holy Spirit.

I Will Build My Church

Our guest speaker, Dr. Charles Dunahoo, one of the founders of the PCA, brings us a message from Matthew 16:13-22. The message is about a strong foundation on the truth that Christ Jesus is our savior and the cornerstone of the church.
